Najwan Darwish in conversation with Mike Ladd

March 3 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Najwan Darwish is a poet from Jerusalem, Palestine. He has published nine poetry books in Arabic and his work has been translated into over 20 languages. The New York Review of Books described him as “one of the foremost Arabic-language poets”.

Najwan lives under illegal and extremely oppressive Israeli occupation, and although he doesn’t shy away from speaking about the daily realities of that, his poems often read more like prayers than polemics. He says his job is “to bear witness, to be a voice for the voiceless and the dead.”

Mike Ladd, Poet and ex-presenter of Radio National’s Poetica program talks to Najwan Darwish about his life and work and Najwan reads from his latest collection No One Will Know You Tomorrow published by Yale University Press.
